Jog privacy policy

Effective November 6, 2026

Jog is a picture reminder app for iPhone and iPad, made by Paul Palynchuk.

The short version: your jogs stay on your devices and in your own iCloud. I can't see them. Jog has no accounts, no ads, no tracking and no analytics companies.

What stays with you

Everything you put in Jog stays on your device: your jogs and their words and notes, photos and drawings, the people you choose to text back, and your first name.

  • iCloud sync (Jog Plus and Jog Family): your jogs sync through your own private iCloud, using Apple's CloudKit. Only you can read your private iCloud data. I can't.
  • Family sharing (Jog Family): when you invite family members, the jogs you share go to them through iCloud sharing. Jogs you mark private are never shared. You can remove someone, or leave a family, at any time.
  • Contacts: when you pick someone to text back, Apple's contact picker gives Jog only that person's name, phone number and photo. Jog never reads your address book.
  • Calendar: Jog reads your calendar on your device to show your day and to find calm days for routines. Your events never leave your device through Jog.
  • Picture suggestions: Apple Intelligence suggestions run on your device.
  • Notifications: reminders are scheduled on your device.

What leaves your device

  1. Picture search on the web. When you search for a picture that isn't in Jog's library, the words you typed go to Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation) to find a picture, and to Google to find a brand's logo. Nothing else goes with them, apart from the internet address every web request carries. Wikipedia's and Google's own privacy policies apply to those requests.
  2. Words with no picture. When Jog has no picture for something you typed, it sends only that word to Jog's own iCloud database, so I know which pictures to add next. It's only one to three lower-case words, never names or numbers. Nothing about you is stored with it. iCloud attaches an anonymous ID that's unique to Jog, and I never use it to find out who you are. To turn this off, go to ⋯ → Help improve pictures.
  3. Picture downloads. Some pictures are downloaded from a public file server (jsDelivr) the first time you use them. The request says which picture it is, and nothing else.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. I only see Apple's anonymous sales reports, never your name or payment details.

Crash reports

If you allow Share with App Developers in iOS settings, Apple sends me anonymous crash reports, so I can fix bugs.

Children

Jog doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including kids who use it through a family plan.

Deleting your data

  • Deleting Jog from a device deletes the jogs stored on that device.
  • To delete your synced jogs from iCloud, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Storage → Jog → Delete Data.
  • If you want a missed-picture word removed, email me and I'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
